Default Won't spin or rinse anymore
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: A710 series 01
Age: More than 10 years

At first would do a normal size wash and the would stop in the rinse cycle, open up the door move a few things around or push the knob alittle farther on the selector and pull the selector back out to restart the rinse cycle, as time went on it started to have the same problem in the spin cycle, but only taking a few items out of the load and restarting would let the load finish running. now just having a wet towel is enough to stop the wash. the only noise would be a thumping sound twice, kinda the same nose you will get when the load is way off balance. today i have a dead machine and seeing is feasible to fix it. thanks for any help in advance.

Pull the front panel and check tub bearing above tranny. If you see water marks, you have a bad tub seal/bearing. If ok, turn tranny pully in spin direction, if hard to spin, you have something cought in the tub. Go to applianceaid. com for dissasembly info.
