Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 11029962890
Age: 5 - 10 years

My kenmore will not spin to dry clothes.
I had a big load in washer and got to end
pumped out water but will not spin to dry .
When i close lid i see moter run and hear squeeking
Is this a trans ???
or is this a switch
or ????
How do i tell how old it is ?

Your clutch is slipping, probably. Pull cabinet away from base, short lid switch and run in spin. Feel the clutch housing, if it gets warm, your clutch is slipping. Pull out pump and motor and turn tranny coupler clockwise, if hard to turn you have sticking brake shoes or something jamming the spin basket. Probably the brake shoes. If so, instead of new ones I just grind down the old ones a bit and soak in oil, compensates for wearing brake rollers.

how old and how do i tell if trans is out

Less than ten years old I think. Busted tranny will sling out a lot of oil.
