Are you saying that when it comes time to agitate it just sits there, and makes no noise, and does nothing. Or does it the motor try to come on. I can be reached at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Will not agitate but will spin

There is no sound coming from the machine other than the timer motor running. Initially there was a "humm" from the Drive motor. I have tried all of the other programs to see if that made any difference. no change.

It sounds to me like your lid switch is not making contact, or has burn't out.. You could either cut the wires and put them together, or buy a new lid swith. I would cut the wires and put them together, and put a wire nit or tape around it for now to check it. Of Course unplug the washer before you do that. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I checked the lifd switch and it is working properly. I just tried a wash cycle again and it appears that it will fill then the drive motor trys to run but it stalled w/a loud Humm and electrical smell. I turned it off and moved timer to spin portion and it ran properly until timer clocked out and the end of spin cycle and it drained fine as well.

Could there be something jamming the transmission internally?

It sounds to me like it is the motor. Tom www.applioanceeducator.com

Smile Found the problem Yea!!

Finally found the problem! An Underwire stay from the wife's Bra had somehow gotten into the drain hose and had jammed the Water pump so that when the motor tried to turn in the direction to agitate it jammed and stalled the motor, yet when the motor spum in the oposite direction for the spin cycle it was pushed out the waterpump and allowed the pump & motor to spin freely? It almost cost us a new washer! Lesson learned? Always look for the unexpected if it doesn't seem to trouble shoot clearly. and oh Yea Make sure the wife puts her Bra's in a wash bag!
