Default Whirlpooo washer wont spin unless started by hand
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSQ9110 LW1
Age: 1 - 4 years

Whirlpool LSQ9110 LW1. Increasingly, in the last 2 months, it will complete it's cycle without spinning. When my wife points this out after the cycle, I can reach in and turn the inner metal tub (or is it called a drum?) a few inches by hand and reset the timer to spin and it will spin. Geting to the point where it does this almost all the time. No broken plastic pieces below. Suspect the motor coupler, but not really sure. Help!...wife not pleased.

Hi. When it seems to spin good after manually turning the drum is this while the clothes are still in it, or is this after you have taken out the clothes and then given the drum a turn or two?

Pretty sure your machine should be using neutral drain. So, when your machine goes into the spin cycle it should not spin until it has pumped out almost all of the water.

Have you checked to see if the tub is actually spinning when it begins the drain cycle? If you check you don't want to lift the lid because it will disturb the neutral drain process, but you usually can feel the side or perhaps front and feel if the tub is moving. It shouldn't be moving when it is draining. After it drains you'll hear a little sound and then the tub will start spinning if it is working right.

Clothes still in after manual turn. Haven't checked for spin during drain cycle, but I will in a day or two. Many thanks for your response.
