Default Whirlpool wont spin
Model Number: lsc8244bw1

I have a Whirlpool washer that has been making a slipping noise when going into spin mode. Now it wont spin at all, but makes a clattering noise now. I have replaced the motor coupler, but this did not solve the problem. I was wondering what is involved in removing the gear case from the cabinet, in order to inspect and replace any damaged parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your cluch is bad. Also your brake shoes may be dragging. The noise you hear maybe your transmission.
Pull off agitator after loostening the 7/8 nut on top.Remove outer case from frame, remove pump clips then remove pump. Now remove motor clips and motor.
Turn coupler on transmission side till clutch engages, then continue turning spin basket. If you hear and feel a clunking noise, you have a bad transmission. If not you will have to remove transmission and inspect clutch and brake shoes.
