Smile Whirlpool Washer in Spin Cycle bounces around the room
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSR 7233D
Age: 5 - 10 years

I recently took cabinet off to paint it and had to do some metal work on bottom which was rusted.

Since I put it back together the machine in spin cycle bounces around to the point of shaking loose nuts and bolts.

The machine does not shake in spin cycle when there is no clothes in it, only with clothes in it.

I have since taken the cabinet off and same problem persists in spin cycle.
Some forums mention it could be the tub wear pads. Others say it could be old suspension springs.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

I also noticed that there are 3 pins (copper color - look like thick nails) that connect machine base (part #19) to triangle (#17) to motor base (#4). What do these do? I could not find them on any diagram and think they might be for shipping purposes. However, they have been in the machine for years so they must be for some other purpose and I only found 2 when cabinet was re-installed.

Thank you in advance for you words of wisdom.

Robert

What you have found does sound like the shipping pins.

The plate number 17 should slide on the base number 19.

If they do not slide at all remove the other two pins and try it with the cabinet off.
