Smile Whirlpool quit spinning
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSR8233EQ1
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Whirlpool stopped working under heavy load.
If I start the cycle, it fills the tub, then at the time of starting spinning, it generates a sound like a humming. When I rotate the timer in any spinning position it repeats the same sound. I disassembled the motor and the transmission and found out that the motor and the transmission can be easily rotated by hand. I started the motor out of the tub and got the humming noise and after removing the power I checked the windings and found them really hot.

Being the motor such an expensive item, is there any other component that might be causing the problem? Please advise.

No there is nothing else in this washer that will cause this.

Check your motor capacitor, if one of the wires comes off, it will cause the motor to not start up, therefore causing the hum and a hot winding.
