Default Whirlpool not spinning correctly
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: 6ALSR7244MW0
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi There,

My washer fills, agitates and pumps fine but sometimes it doesnt spin. During the time it's supposed to spin I can hear the motor running but it just sits there without moving. However sometimes it does spin (not very well) and other times I have to rotate the drum around slightly then reset to spin and then it works.

We had a repair guy in who says it the gear box and engine are faulty. The repair would cost almost as much as a new washer!

I want to fix this myself so your advice would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.
Jon

PS. the lid switch is ok

Your transmission is an automatic simular to your auto.
some times the part that shifts from pumping to spin, gets stuck in pump and the part inside wears out and will work hit or miss for a while then it will stay in neutral. then you'll need a new trans.

would problems with the trans. lead to engine trouble too?
