Question Whirlpool, No Agitation but Spins/Drains Fine
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GSL9365EQ0
Age: Please select

My Whirlpool washer (GSL9365EQ0) stopped agitating, but spins and drains fine. The core problem is that the motor is not reversing like it is supposed to. I think I've narrowed it down to either a bad motor or a bad timer.

When it should be agitating, there is a buzzing sound in the timer and the motor heats up very fast. Should I replace the timer or the motor?

Make sure that there is nothing in the pump stopping it from turning in the opposite direction.

If the motor is heating up that is tell you that the time is doing it job.

If there is not in the pump replace the motor.

To check to make sure it is not the pump take the pump off the motor and try it in the agitation cycle.

You do not have to remove the hose just swing the pump out of the way.

Here is a link to your washer model GSL9365EQ0.

Already had it disconnected from the pump. I picked up a new motor at Sears last night and tried it. It was the motor.... evidently it burned out in the reverse direction, but not the spin direction.
