Unhappy Whirlpool LA5243: water coming out of pigtail hose during fill cycle

hapened once before with low water pressure round the farm, had to replace part of the bathroom floor due to that flood.

Had cleaned up the laundry room, mopped, moved washer and dryer, air compressed out all dust, put things back in place.

First time using it, medium sized load, water gushing out of pigtail. Glad I was in the house at the time! pigtyail plugged temporarily. Manual doesnt list where it is from or what it does.

pigtail being a small 3/8 size hose on bottom left to floor. No idea what it is used for.

No hot water, hot water valve bad for years.

Help!

Your model number should have three letters and a number after the la5243 that you gave.

The three letters and the number can be found on the model number tag on the washer under the lid where the clothes go in.

Here is a link to a washer similar to yours that you may be able to pick the part from.

Thanks, I forget offhand, did have the last 4, being a W0.

Found the problem. There is supposed to be no loose hoses. It was actually the bleach dispenser hose cam loose and fallen to the ground. I had listed up the top to do some cleaning months ago and never noticed it coming loose. It got pinched shut and flooded 2 times. I cleaned up and mopped under the machine several days ago, freeing the hose, so that is why it flooded again during the fill cycle.

Thanks again. It is also why the heck it confused me, since nobody had a listing for a loose bleach dispenser hose. I always thought it was some kind of pump overflow hose. Should have known better!
