Hello, here is my situation, any help would be appreciated!

I have gotten this old Whirlpool Washer. This is what happens:
Turn the knob to in normal selection like I am starting a load of laundry
1. Hot Water will fill and stop
2. Cold Water will fill continuously throughout entire cycle
3. Agitator will operate continuously until spin, will not stop when you open the lid.
4. Spin cycle operates normally (except for the cold water continuously filling and exiting the washer).

Now from what I have been reading on here, here are some of the troubleshooting I have done.

1. Cold Water only enters the washer when it is powered and operating. Possible Bad timer or pressure switch. When plugged in and resting, water does not enter the washer. When unplugged water does not enter the washer.

2. Hot Water operates fine.

3. Lid switch intermittent. I have another whirlpool. When I select to start a cycle, water can fill until the desired level, then the agitator operates. This whirlpool decides that the agitator will operate once you move your selector and push to start filling water. It will not stop when you open the lid.

Any advice is again appreciated...happy new year.

Dude, too much info. Lets make believe you know nothing. What is the washer doing, or not doing? Right now I am chasing my tail, and Oh!. I don't have one. If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

ok...let me try this again, hahah...

You select what you want on the dail, pull it out. Washer will then start to fill with water and agitator will start instantly.
On hot/cold setting, water will start and stop fine till cold water is demanded by the machine.
On cold/cold setting, water will never stop filling.
Water only enters the washer when powered.
On spin, the agitator will cycle with the tub, otherwise it will constantly agitate on wash and rinse.

hope that clarifies.
