Okay I Hand wrung and removed the latest clothes that where in the washer. After removing the clothes I put the washer in Spin test to drain the water that I had wrung out. The Washer spun up to speed now, although it was empty. And when the spin test stopped the Basket do not stop right away but spun down to a stop. The drive block was spinning independently from the Basket drive.

Is my Spanner nut still not tight enough?

You didn't get the spin tube tabs in the drive block top slots. Loosen the nut and turn and puch the basket down, then tighten again, that will fix it, unless you tore up the drive block. But even if you tore up the drive block, if you tighten it up good with the spanner wrench that partselect sells, it will work.

Sorry Basket does not need to be pushed down, it already sits about 3/4 of an inch too low. It all makes since now. I wish that the original repair man would have seen the failing drive block. After the Transducer replacement in December the Filter plugs both popped out because the basket was too low and the tub pushed them out. During Feburary I posted on another forum that I could not get the filter plugs to stay in and it was recommended to use adhesive. After trying different adhesives I actually ended up using JB-weld on March 31 too keep the plugs in, but you could see that they where getting "rubbed" down. Not being able to get the plugs to stay in should have been my first clue that the basket was sitting low. And during this last few days the JB welded plugs have also come off.

On March 26th the washer would not drain. After posting to another forum I was told that it was the all so common Coupler. It ended up being and infant sock in the pump. I wondered if it had gotten though the Filter plug holes that I had not yet had success with getting the plugs to stay put. It was stated that that was possibly how the sock got in the pump.
But after the plugs were secure, sometime later in May or so one of my wifes sock now pluged the pump just at the intake. I wondered how the socks were into the tub. Maybe over filling? Now it seems that the possible way the the socks managed to get into the tub was over the Edge, since now that Basket edge is sitting almost an inch lower than it should. The Filters not staying in and the Sock in pump both seem to lead to the fact that the Basket is sitting too low and the Drive block is not working properly.

Yesterday I found a repair shop that carried Spanner wrenches and also has that Drive block and Spanner nut (I am getting a new nut just because the existing nut while it is not faulty has many "teeth" marks from trying to remove it with a articulating pipe wrench). It was nice to actually talk to a human being at the parts supplyy house. At least for now the guy at the parts place has made the most sense to me. When I inquired about the Drive block he asked if my basket drive still had the notches becuase often that are worn/broken off. My looked to be in good shape. He said that he would show me some "good" notches when I came in for the parts. I also took a few digital pictures of the top of my Basket Drive and will show him.

By the way the guy at the parts store said that never needed a new Clutch and did not suspect the brakes.

Firstly, I did not tear up the Drive block. The first time I even removed the block, it was already hollowed out. The notches at the sides were non existint and the Lip on the upper inside on the block that rests on the top of the basket drive was also missing. It was just plan worn out. I did not "tear" it up. Mybe we can blame it on my wife since she has been doing most of the laundy for the life of this washer.

Yes, I had tightened it as tight as possible without a spanner wrench (which I could not find on the parts select site and talking with a Rep. at easyappliance.com {a partner company} I was told that neither they or Parts select sold the Spanner wrench or any tool. I did find it on Repairclinic.com.

I decided that I needed the Spanner wrench and after my discussions with the Parts store that I previously mentioned, I drove down I purchased the Wench, Drive Block & Nut (my nut was Okay but a little dinged up from the pipe wrench). The cost was almost the same as anywhere online and the advice seemed spot on. All this time I have been spinning my wheels or at least trying to spin a hallowed out Drive block.

At least for me, I do not believe just tightening my existing block was the solution. Only relying on a Friction fit could result in the Basket either first not being at the proper height, or eventually slipping down again to wher it could rub on and damage the inner tub (Not good) Also the Plugs (which no one sees as important) would be forced out as the Basket "sat" on the inner tub Ring. Also if the Friction allows the Basket to fall again, I run the risk of having another Sock "float/Fly" over the top of the basket into the tub and into the pump. I do not feel the need to retrieve another sock from the pump, or even open up the Cabinet for a long time now.

The New Drive Block was my solution. I will post a picture on the original drive block. You will see that it is sitting almost an inch low on the Basket Drive.

Looking at the picture of the drive block, you are lucky the lowered spin basket didn't tear up the bottom of the tub! Hope now everything is OK.

Yes, that is the one thing that I was lucky for. Everything (it all seems) is working great now. Thanks
