Default Water Won't Cut Off When Drum Is Full
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: Hot Point

The water will not cut off when the washer reaches the correct water level for the load. This morning the washer filled up but the water kept on running and overflowed onto the floor. The only way I could get the water to stop was to turn the water off on the back of the washer. I don't know what part lets the washer know the correct water level has been reached.

The water level switch is the part that lets the washer know the correct water level. But the water inlet valve can also cause your problem. If you turn your washer off and the water continues to come in your in let valve is the problem.

If you provide me your model number, I can probably send you a link to your part.

My model number is VVXR1040T 2WB. It is a Hotpoint Washer. I would appreciate it if you would let me know which part I need to order.

Thanks!

Thank you for your model number.

Here is a link to your part list. The water valve is part # 805 on the diagram.
