Question Water in tub during spin cycle will not drain
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WWA5600
Age: More than 10 years

During a normal load today, the tub filled with water just prior to the last spin cycle.

When spinning, the water would not exit via the drain line to the adjacent utility sink as it typically does.

The entire cycle ran, but the tub was filled with water at the end!

The motor seems to be ok. It still spins the agitator, etc.

I suspect the four port pump assembly.

What do you think? Thank you.

Ist check to see if pump has voltage. If so bail out water, or drop drain hose and let it siphon out. Remove pump hoses and look for obstruction. Post results.

Default Volt Meter

Can an electrician's voltage and continuity meter be used to check for pump voltage? This is all I have on hand. Please advise.

Tub is drained already. The wet vac took care of that.

Thanks Appguy.

Default Much Success!

Appguy,

I was not able to figure out how to check the voltage so I moved onto the pump.

Pulled the hoses, disconnected the pump and took a look inside.

The culprit was my son's little baby sock! It was stuck in the pump and jambing the impeller.

Pulled that sucker out, reconnected the hoses and SHE RUNS LIKE A CHARM!

I even got an iTunes gift card for the effort from the wife.

YOU ROCK APPGUY!

Thanks a lot.
