Default Water sloshing over the top
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LW6111WB
Age: More than 10 years

My Amana is leaking water. Removing the front panel, it seemed that the drum was moving side-to-side much too easily during wash cycle and that water was sloshing over the top and onto the base. I plan on replacing the six springs and also the snubber isolator pad to see if this will tie down the drum during the wash cycle. Anyone seen this happen before and am I on the right track here?? Thanks.

Default

Check the friction dome area.

This area should be clean and free of any lubricant.

Check and make sure the water level is not to high.

Here is a link to your washer model LW6111WB.

Default brakes

The inner basket/tub is not supposed to spin during agitation. It has a stop/go motion, much like the middle agitator. If the brakes don't work, the inner tub will start to spin due to centrifugal force. At first, the inner tub/basket will look like it's stopping and going, agitating the clothes, but it will soon start spinning willy-nilly. The poor brakes can't keep up with the force. As the spinning continues, the water sloshes up the sides and over the outer tub.

Replace the brakes. It will start agitating properly-- without the slow leak on your floor.
