Default Water remains between the tub and basket.
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WPSQ4160T2WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I've just started noticing some water under the washer.

On close examination, I also noticed a fairly good amount of water between the tub and the outer basket. I disconnected the hose from the spin basket and the pump motor and did not see any obstruction. Nor was there any obstruction between the pump motor and drain hose to the sink. The pump motor seems to be working OK.

I have to conclude that there must be something that prevents water from flowing between the tub and the pump motor.

I was going to remove the spin basket, but ran into trouble because the 1 11/16" transmission hub nut (left-handed) was impossible to loosen.

Is there any way I can clean and remove any debri between the tub and the basket? (More importantly, is it normal or OK to have some water remaining below the tub when the washing, rinse, and spin cycles are completed?)

I thank you for your suggestion in advance.

Yes, it is normal for a small amount of water to be left in the bottom of the drum, have you considered changing out the belt? If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
