Default Water overflow
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LSE7806A
Age: 5 - 10 years

This is the second time in five years this machine has flooded in the house. This first time repairman replaced the water inlet valve and it lasted another 3 years before flooding again yesterday. We do have a well and experinced some filter problems a few months ago that pluged the filter in the fridge water supply. My thought is to replace the valve making sure repairman didn't remove screen last time and also add a fine screen washer in hose at supply. Better to plug that and have to replace than flood house again. Will never be able to trust machine again unless we find a solution. Still waiting for Maytag repairman, any info appreciated.

I had the same problem years ago when I was using a well. The hot water never did stop up the inlet valve and screen because the sand would settle out while it was in the tank. I thought about putting in a tank for the cold water but never got around to it. I'm on a rural water system and don't have the problem. I know what you mean about trusting the machine. I would look in to some type of water filter to filter your whole house. Other screens can get stopped up. Refrigerator, aerators on faucets. Sand can also wear out shutoff valves.

You don't really say what caused the flooding. If it was the valve that leaked (they are cheap and poorly built) then repace it annually. I mean it's a $ 15 part and make sure your hose is armored.

Screens don't prevent any leaking.

A valve that is stuck open (common) will cause a flood or a valve with a puncture hole will cause a flood

Very fine sand from wells will go thru any screen and jam the water fill valve.
I've had this at my home, and my parents have had it too, we solved our problem
with a replaceable cartridge water filter. keeps water grid free. But after you install the filter, you have to flush out all fauctets of any remaining grit. It is a sure fire systme, ask Shiela for a whole house filter systme, cheap insurance.

You mean if you wash with hot water it will over fill and flood on to the floor?
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU SET THE LEVEL TO MEDIUM? Does it do the same flooding thing? Or low water level setting, same thing? Let me know
