Default Water mixing valve replacement
Brand: Inglis
Model Number: IE48000
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our washer has a problem getting the cold water into the drum sometimes. I have tried swapping the hot/cold input lines and that works for a short while. Then it goes back to slowly filling up the tub, sometimes with hot instead of cold.

I have a "universal" water mixing valve, but don't know what the trick is to getting at the old one. It would seem like the top should be removable, but unless I am missing some trick of the trade, it doesn't look like it. The back *should* come off, but
it of course is what the valve and drain etc is connected to, so really don't want to disconnect more than I have to...

Can someone explain how one might go about changing this vale?

Should I get the exact replacement part, or will the universal one work just as good?

Thanks
