Default Water inlet valve electrical connection
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: wwre5240d0ww
Age: 1 - 4 years

I replaced the valve because the water didn't stop flowing when it should. I connected the new one and it now stops when it should.
But..... when I change the water temperature while it's filling, it spits and sputters alternating between hot and cold.
I'm afraid that I may have not got the electrical connections correct.
I made sure I got the right ones in the right places, but may have one reversed. How much damage can be done if I reverse one?

It is just air that is making the valve spit. It will not heart anything.

Even after loads have been run.
If put it on cold, and it will spurt a little hot here and there.
If I put it on hot, it will spurt a little cold here and there.
I think (hope) that after I leave it alone it stays either hot or cold
All this is with the door open.
That may affect it some.
Seems like before I had a problem, you could hear it adjust the warm setting after the door closed.

If I did get one of the connections reversed, would it still function this much. Should this valve be in the schematic I found inside the front console?

The connector toward the front has violet wire coming in on the left and 2 red-white wires coming in on the right.
The connector on the side has two red-white wires coming in toward the back and a tan wire coming in toward the front.

That would require I swap connectors.
I'm sure I have them in the right place.
Just not sure whether I have each backward (upsidedown) or not.

I looked at the schematic.
Tan and violet are going to the right set of connectors.
Tan/RW or Violet/RW maybe reversed on one or both.
But, I'm thinking maybe something else is wrong.
Maybe the new part is defective?
