Hello, my name is John. Last night my wife did some laundry and the water would not stop filling the machine. The only way to stop the water was to turn off the water valves. What would cause this and is it hard to fix? What would the part be called to fix this problem?

Replace the water valve in the back of the washer where the inlet hoses go.

two things control water in let to a washer one is the water valves (one for hot and one for cold ) the other is the level control presure switch (located behind the wash size selector
easy enough to find the culpret is to see if the washer fills when their is no power to the machine ie unpluged from the power the it is the fill valves if not then it is the switch dont think will be expensive in the us
important that if you replace presure switch that washer is comleatly empty and that you blow out any water that may be in the plastic tube
good luck
