Question Washing Machine,Top load
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSR8233JQ0
Age: More than 10 years

The timer seems to be working. It fills up with water and then it does not start to wash.I turn the timer around and it made a wining or ticking noise. I started noticing several months ago that sometimes it did'nt ring the clothes out well. They would still be very wet. Especially with the blue jeans or towels.
I wish it was as simple as replacing the belt.

Hi,

There is no belt on this washer, sorry.
The old whirlpool belts were never easy to change anyway... so your lucky.

If the main motor sounds like it's running, but the washer does not agitate or spin then I would check the motor coupler.

Here is a Step by Step Guide that may help you.

If the main motor does not sound like it's running and you only hear the ticking from the timer check the washer lid switch. See if you hear the lid switch make a clickie noise when you open and close the washer lid.

Something else to check for if the main motor does not run is a bad connection on the motor wire harness plug.

Here is a short video that will show you a bad connection on the motor wire harness.

When the washer if full of water and should be agaitating carefully move the wire harness back and forth to see if the washer kicks in.

Bad wire harness motor connection

Hope something here helps.
