Red face Washing Machine Stops at Water cycle
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: ?
Age: 1 - 4 years

My friend has a Maytag Neptune a few years old. I don't have the model # but he says the machine stop at the cycle where the maching fills with water and sometimes at the spin cycle. Any help?

Are there any error codes?

Can he get it working by pressing the control panel?

Well here's the model #MAH4000. Serial #53337888YF. Purchased in 08/25/2000. Again, the problem is when the washing machine starts to fill up water. It stops and has to be manually started again. Any help on the matter will be great. Thanks again.

One of the problems to check is the water supply... is the water entering the washer quickly, or is it just a trickle? This model has a timer that only allows the fill to take a maximum of 4-6 minutes. This is a safety feature to prevent flooding your home in the event the machine leaks. If you have clogged or blocked hose screens or low water pressure, you may be experiencing this timeout. Worth replacing the hose screens first to see if this doesn't fix the problem...
