Smile Washing machine clicks and dims lights
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: wbb3300a2ww
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a GE electric belt-driven washing machine that will run through the complete cycle and even cleans my clothes. the only problem is that during the agitation cycle the motor seems to turn on and off about once a second making loud start-stop noises. the machine is drawing so much current while doing this that the lights in my house will dim about once a second. all the cycles seem to work(spin, fill, drain). any suggestions? i read somewhere that it could be the centrifugal switch in the motor but i would think that would affect the other cycles. the motor is hot but not enough to burn my hand(i took the front panel off to feel it). at one point i did smell an electric/electronic burning smell but the machine still works.

my question would be....

is it the motor
is it the electronics
is it the agitator(clutch or whatever) i rigged the magnetic latch so i could grab the agitator while in motion and it did not slip gears when i grabbed it.

any help would very much be appreciated.
