Default Washer won't spin - Water left in tub
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LW8303
Age: 5 - 10 years

Greetings:

Amana #LW8303washer; In spin cycle loud screeching noise, sounds like a bearing or belt or possibly the pump. I can't turn the agitator clockwise (seems to lock up gradually) but it will loosen up and turn counter clockwise. I have the front off and move it by using the transmission vanes. I suspect a jammed pump and if so, can I find parts to that, or do I replace the whole unit? If not the pump then what?

Thanks,

JLind

With the front off the washer take the belt of the pump and see if you can turn it by hand.

If the pump does not turn freely you have a bad pump.

Can you check you model number for me as I can locate it on our database.
