Question Washer won't spin in fast cycle
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WPSR4130W1WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Washer fills and agitates -- and the laundry is CLEAN -- but, the washer will not go into the "fast" spin cycle in any of the "wash" modes (Cottons, Easy Care, Handwash, etc.). If I change the spin speed to "slow" MANUALLY after the washer stops -- and move the dial to a different "wash" mode (EX: Cottons -> Easy Care), it will spin MOST of the water out of the laundry -- but the laundry is still so wet that it usually takes two 70-minute cycles in the dryer. Since I have never used the "slow" spin cycle, I don't know if this extremely damp laundry is normal for the "slow" cycle. Maybe this is just a worn-out belt slipping -- should I try changing the belt first? -- or is it a specific switch? Thanks! JudyMcD

It sounds like the motor has a faulty winding in it.

The motor does not have parts that can be replaced so you would have to get a new motor.

If the belt was worn you would have trouble with the wash cycle too.

Here is a link to your washer model WPSR4130W1WW.
