Machine sounds like it is spinning but it is not. Burning smell so unpluged and checked the belts under the washer. They seem to be fine. Any ideas? Could the belts be too loose and need replacement? Female and determined to fix.....

Is the water draining from the washer?

If not check to see if there is something stuck in the pump.

You will have to remove the front panel to check it.

There are two screws near the bottom of the panel.
