What you need to do is put the washer in a wash cycle, and see if you get cold water. If not replace the valve, or clean the screans inside the valve, and see if it works. I have a 9 yr old GE top load 7-cycle Heavy Duty Washer that won't final spin due to overloading. When I detected the problem, I smelled burning rubber and saw a little white smoke near washer. It will spin with one to two items, but it won't spin with a full load. Everything else works okay, except for a load knocking when agitating during the wash cycle. Can anyone help. Can't afford a repair person at this time. And I need my washer. Thanks.
