I had the same problem. It ended up being the safety switch that is supposed to stop the spinning when the lid is opened was not closing, thus it still "though" the lid was up. On our washer the switch was inside the top near the left hinge. The pivot had an arm that when the lid went down, was supposed to close the contact switch. The switch came loose and thus the contact was not closing. The fix was to readjust the switch and tighten it up so it would close. In a pinch (but leaves an unsafe situation), you could force the contact to stay closed with duct tape or some other strapping until you can get it fixed properly. You just have to remember to manuall pull the knob to stop the spin before opening the lid. Again -- that is not the safest, but would let you finish the washing cycle. |
