Default Washer won't drain
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.40052990
Age: 5 - 10 years

My washer spins but won't drain--it makes a buzzing sound when it should be draining and I'm wondering if there is anything that I can do to troubleshoot/fix this myself. I've never done any washer repairs before, and I couldn't even figure out how to get the drain hose unplugged from the back of the unit to check if it is plugged. Any advise on what is wrong and/or how I can open this thing up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like there may be something stuck in your pump.

Remove the two screws at the bottom of the lower front panel.

This will give you access to your pump.

Be careful there will be a lot of water when you remove the hose.

Here is a link to the parts of your washer model 417.40052990.

Here is your pump.

Thanks! But I don't see two screws at the bottom of the front panel. Do I need to lift the washer up off the floor to see the screws or should I be looking somewhere else?

I found the screws--silly me. I see there are two clips that hold the drain pipes to the pump. I'll let you know if I find the clog.
