Default Washer won't agitate, sounds like 747 taking off
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: KAWE700ALO
Age: 5 - 10 years

I am not sure, but I think something, a screw maybe is stuck somewhere, I heard it (a possible screw or metal 'something') in the tub and was in a hurry. went to check on washer, the clothes were wet and the noise was incredible. I removed the clothes out of the full tub of water. Manually took the machine through the cycles manually. no agitatin, it will spin out the water but has a aweful sound. Help please. I am a single Mom and have no idea how to remove the agitator to get to do the repairs myself. Thanks in advance for any help

Does the tub spin or does the water just drain?

Tilt the washer back and see if you see any black rubber or little white pieces.

It is possible that the coupler has let go.

The coupler is a piece that joins the motor and transmission together.

The water will still drain because the pump is on the other end of the motor.

Here is a link to your washer model KAWE700.

The coupler is number 13 on the pump and motor breakdown.

Thank you Sheila, The tub does not spin, the water only drains. I did contact the appliance center from where I purchased the washer, I was told the same thing... sigh... The coupler. now for some fun work. Thanks again for your assistance
