Hi I have a Kenmore Apartment size washer that quit agitating/spinning. When you put the clothes in and start the washer the water fills up but the washer does not agiatate. Then when it is time to spin the water will drain but the basket does not spin.

The other half of the problem which has been like this for years is the top part of the agiatater which I believe to be called the auger just spins by hand and when the clothes are washing it doesn't spin anymore, the only part that had been spining until last week was the bottom part of the agitator. You probebly have a broken motor coupling, if so the motor is not connected to the transmission.Your second question, remove the agitator, with it on the floor step on it, while pulling on the auger and it will pop off.Remove the bad dogs, and replace the with new ones and reinstall the agitator
