Default Washer agitates and pumps out water but will not spin
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: Lat2500aae
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Performa washer smoked and sqealed. The drive belt was damaged so it was replaced along with the water pump belt. The water pump looks ok. The washer agitates and the water pump removes the water in the spin cycles but it will not spin. We bought the machine in 2001 so the transmission is still under warranty.
Help!

Update: My husband gave a spin to the shaft of the outer drum awhile ago and the washer started spinning while the water was pumping out of it. Now the washer is going through all it cycles. Not sure how long it will work or what he did when he rotated the shaft but I am busy doing my laundry. He thinks it has something to do with the clutch but not sure what he really did.

Call the maytag service center if still under warranty? they will replace it for you fot the parts free but i think you have to pay the labor. It sound resosnalbe rather than twicking it your self? There will be no headage.
