Default Washer will not spin
Brand: Whirlpool
Age: More than 10 years

Washer fills and goes through agitation cycle, then fills and begins spinning until the water is almost empty then stops. It won't spin long enough in the spin cycle and timer stops advancing. I bought a new timer but it only goes through the agitation cycle and stops. It won't drain or spin. No clicking or other sound. It hust stops there and won't advance. When I advanc it manually nothing happens in the spin cycle area. I have checked the pump and there are no clogs.

Any ideas?

Your lid switch acts like a safety to keep this from spinning when the lid is opened. I'd start by checking that out, since it seems to work intermittently its possible that the lid switch has just come loose, usually two phillips screws holding it in place and may just need to be tightened. Its also possible the lid switch is bad, or the plastic tab on the lid that pokes into the hole and activates the switch has broken.

Lid switch though is the most likely problem when you have a no spin problem but everything else seems to work.
