Default Washer Water Overfill
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH5500
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Maytag Neptune washer all of a sudden overfilled. Due to the water pressure the door slightly openned and water was coming out. Water was secured and cleaned up. Then when we put the water back on the hot water kept running. We had a repairman here and he said it was the water sensor we added to detect leaks. This does not seem correct to me since this valve is open or shut and has nothing directly to do with filling the washer. What is the problem?

It sound like the hot water valve is stuck opened.

If the water sensor is easy to remove take it out of the system and see what happens.

Here is a link to your washer model MAH5500.
