This washer thumps in the spin cycle as if it were unbalanced, but no rearrangement of the clothes changes things. My wife pointed out that the basket is tilting forward. If you move the basket to the center it moves forward when you let it go. I looked underneath but all of the springs seemed to be in place. Any suggestions for diagnosing or repairing this?

It could be the tub counterweight spring.

The spring is shown on the machine base diagram.
