Default Washer spins, water will not pump out
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WDSS4120aww
Age: 5 - 10 years

Today, the washer would not empty when the spin cycle started. I hear the pump running, however, it does not sound normal. Could there be debris in the pump intake, or is the pump bad? Also, having trouble opening the face of the washer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Put a putty knife in the top crack of the front pannel on the right side and push in to remove right catch. Then do the same on left side, and remove front cover.
with washer unplugged, re move white plastic pump and clean out trash. Then renistall pump

"bettyboop", thank you!!!

After opening the face of the washer per your directions, I removed the motor/pump assembly. I disconnected the hose from the pump to the tub and discovered a sock blocking the drain. I cleaned it out, remounted the unit, and it is back in service.

The most challenging part of this repair was removal of the face panel on the washer. This has been a reliable heavy duty extended capacity washing machine. I was hoping this problem would be something minor, which in this case, it was.

This is a great forum, with quality individuals ready to offer their expertise whenever someone is in need!
