Default Washer Spinning To Fast
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LW7503W2
Age: More than 10 years

Our Washer Is Spinning So Fast, It Is Slinging The Water Out
Of The Tub. I Thought At First We Had A Leak, But I Took The Washer Outside And Conected It To The Water Hose And Seen Where The Water Is Being Slung Out Over The Top And On To The Sides Of The Washer.
It Has Waht Looks Like A Brake On It. This Item Looks Like A Pully
With A Break Pad Pushing Into It. The Pad Is Worn.
Can You Help Me. Can Not Find The Part.

The break would be used for stopping the washer at the end of the spin cycle.

The motor control the speed of the spin.

Does the washer drain fast enough?

Here is a link to your washer model LW7503W2.

Default brakes

On this machine, the brakes help control the inner basket/tub during agitation. If the brakes are worn, the basket will spin quickly, rather than a stop/go agitation, displacing water above the tub. The drainage holes on top are not adequate for the amount of water that is displaced. Replacing the brakes will stop that. And, I assume, clean your clothes better.

Hello BRADYJOHNSON,

One thing I would offer in advice is this; considering the age of the machine, have you had a thorough maintenance done? In this I mean a cleaning. More often than not the drain holes in the drums become clogged with years of soap and dirt scum and make it more difficult to drain the water at the rate neccesary.

Also as Sheila pointed out it is important to know if the machine is draining fast enough. For example a pump with a broken impellar would still work but not remove the water at the speed neccesary thereby as the washer comes up to full spin speed the water begins to rise up rather than drain out and over flows the top.
