Default Washer overflows,please help
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: a104
Age: More than 10 years

I have a maytag a104 that when filled over a certain amount will overflow. This used to not be a problem so I know that something has gone wrong, but I am a carpenter, not an appliance person. Can someone point me in the direction of what part might need replacing?Any help is appreciated.

here is a link to your console you can open it from the back of your washer part #17 the pressure switch is what you want to check there should be a small tube (hose) on the switch take it off and blow into it if it clicks its ok also trace the hose to the under side of the washer to see if it has came off there

Alright,I finally have a day off to work on this thing.I took your advice and checked the hose and switch, both appear to be fine. The hose is connected ,and the switch makes the clicking sound.Could it be that the switch is starting to wear out, because this problem doesn`t happen every time we wash?

Also,I actually was able to see what is happening when the washer overflows. It appears that the washer doesn`t "sense" when the water has filled to capacity. The water will just keep filling the tub until someone realizes the laundry room is flooded and cuts the water feed off,or sees that the tub is full and moves the switch to the next cycle.

Thank you for the help and the diagram. Now I do not feel so lost when I open up the washer.

Does the washer work fine on lower water levels. If so,you have a bad water level switch,or one that needs adjusting. If the water still trickles in when the washer is turned off you have a bad water solenoid.

Hmm...not sure about the lower water level(partial load?).However the washer will quit pouring water out when the washer is turned off, except when the occasion comes that it continues until overflowing.Wher can I locate this water level switch?

The water level switch is on the control panel. The switch will make a click when it shuts off. If no click when it overflows you have a bad switch, should be replaced.

Unhappy Kenmore 110(heavy duty 70 series) overflow

Last Monday, our kenmore overflowed, meaning the water did not stop filling the tub. Just trying to be specific so someone will have a clear picture. Paul went back to the kitchen and there was at least 3-4 inches of water in the kitchen, back porch, and hall.

I put in a wash medium water level and warm wash and warm rinse. We usually wash in cold/cold(w/all the colors we wear) and then warm/cold for whites when hubby does it and hot when I do it. I had some clothes that my husband and I wore during a fire pack out for a restoration company. I am like the child you put in their Sunday best, make sit on the couch, and then come back to find her filthy.

Here's the numbers I found for information:
Model: 110 92573210
Serial: CE 1958702
Stock: 25732
Stylemaster 909873
Thanks, Terry

Drain the washer and see why it floods. Select low water level and warm wash. If it fails to shut off=bad water solenoid, if ok select high water level and check if it starts to flood. If so=bad water level switch or jammed, damaged sensing tube to it. Blow thru the tube and clean out lower plastic housing by the side of tub. This can get gummed up from using cheap laundry detergent.

How do you clean out the lower plastic housing by the side of the tub? Can this be removed and cleaned out? If so, how do you remove it to clean it out?
