iI have replaced the timer and now the machine agitates on all cycles but the timer does not advance. The washer continues to agitate--FOR EVER.

What now?

Listen to the timer and see if you hear it ticking.

Check the wiring on the timer.

The timer does not tick but the wiring seems alright. Could the new part I purchased be bad?

You may now have a bad timer motor, Compare it's resistance with the old one.
