Washer suddenly began making extremely loud noise during spin cycle. Sounds like a jet engine. Still seems to be functioning properly despite the noise. Any suggestions?

It is likely the main tub bearing that is making the noise.

Remove the front panel and check to see it there is soap and water residue around the center of the tub.

I have a Maytag top loader that makes a loud noise when spinning and the same noise only not as loud when the tub is full and it's washing. It seems to happen when the tub is moving, it still is working fine but the noise makes it sound like its going to break.
