I have a Neptune washer that when is washing it makes a snapping or loud popping noise when it changes direction. I have had it apart and notice a tiny bit of grease in the bottom of the outer tub.
The rear bearing is not leaking through the back of the outer tub. But it also seems noisier on the spin cycle than it has been in the past.
I wonder what might be wrong. Could it be the pulley or how the pulley is attached or is it the rear bearing that is bad?
If it is the bearing can it be repaired without replacing the outer tub? I noticed a lip seal kit on the parts select site. Would that correct the problem or not?

Yup, most likely you need an outer tub
