Default Washer makes rattling sound during spin cycle, will not spin
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.20922990
Age: 5 - 10 years

My washing machine stopped washing during a laundry session. I thought it was a belt issue but after troubleshooting it, I found that there was no belt. It is a direct drive system and saw that the coupling was broken. I replace it and tested. Now it washes (agitates) but during the spin cycle, a rattling sound is heard with no or little spin. I know the lid switch works because I tested it and I also know the coupling is good because I just replace it. What could it be??? Help please!!!

Hi,

Did you crack the new coupler when you put it on?
May want to take another look at the coupler.

What do you mean by "crack the coupler"? You mean broke it?. What I actually did was that, I reused the old black middle(soft rubber) part as it was still good. I had problem installing the coupler (hard plastic)with the new middle(soft rubber) part because the holes for the 2 plastic pieces were so tight. I went back and took a second look at the coupling and it is still good.
