Default Washer leaks oil out bottom
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: wwa8600
Age: More than 10 years

My washer is working just fine, but it leaks yellow oil out the bottom. It started out as a very small leak and I out it off as long as I could. It has been leaking for about 2 years, but recently has started leaking more and more. I have read alot in these forums about replacing the transmission. But according to PS this tranny is no longer available. Do you think I should try to replace the whole thing or do you think I might be able to just replace the seal. There have been a few questions about this but none for my model washer. Can someone help?

I think I know which GE washer you're talking about. Does it have a brown pressed paperboard back panel? If so, It's too old. I have fixed a hundred or more of them. I have a few of those old parts left. but It would a lot of hard to resurect it. and something else would soon fail, if It was an old G E. Bettyboop

I have fixed a lot of these, you have to turn washer upside down, remove frame under washer, remove tranny pully, and replace the seal.

Ad some gear lube, replace the seal, and cork washer that seals the nut, that's all you gotta do.Bettyboop

Default part numbers

correct me if i am wrong. I am looking at the exploded view that says transmission complete breakdown WH38X0053. the parts I need to replace areart # 751 seal washer, and part #753 washer, then add some gear lube? I know this sounds redundant but I want to make sure I order the right parts. Thanks for the help. By the way, yes it is an older GE washer that has a brown press paperboard back.

You have the right parts, only one replaceable seal.
