Default Washer leaks during agitation cycle
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: hbxr2070T
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

Gotta problem with a leaky top-load washer. The other day during a normal cycle there was a big puddle of water on the floor after starting a wash.

Took the front and top panel off and found three of the four dampening straps were broken. Bought four new straps and replaced them.

Ran the washer with the front panel off, it begins the normal cycle by filling up the tub, no leaks. Then it begins the agitation cycle and as the drum picks up speed the water rises inside the drum and begins to slosh over top of the tub cover and down the side of the tub.

I took the water level switch air hose off where it connects to bottom of the drum and blew into it, could hear the switch clicking okay. Put the hose back on and then removed the other end of the hose from the switch and blew through it to make sure the channel was clear into the bottom of the drum.

Could this still be caused by the water level switch or have you any other ideas/ advice.

Thanks

Mark

Default

Does the drum spin during the agitating cycle. Don't think I've seen one do that. When it spins during the spin cycle the water is being pumped out so it doesn't sling out like that.
