Brand: Maytag
Model Number: lat9406aae
Age: 5 - 10 years

washer is leaking somewhere inside , I can se water dripping from inside of cabinet at the base in the backside. happens when using hot or cold water washing. could this be the inlet vavle? please help thank in advance.

You will have to remove the front panel to take a better look to see where the leak is.

Here is a link to your washer model lat9406aae.

To remove the front panel you will have to release the two clips that hold the panel to the top.

Using a putty knife push the clips inward.

The clips are about two inches in from the side.

i remaved front panel and ran washer its leaking from botttom of tub around rubber boot...would this be hared to fix for a do it yourselfer?

i removed fornt panel and sen its leaking from around the bottom of the tub ...its the main seal and bearing correst and is this hard to replace

Dan-i have the same washer as you do and changed my seals and bearings about a year ago and hav'nt had any leaks since.you will need 2 kits-Part#PS60151-tub bearing repair kit,andPart#PS65335-tub stem seal and hub assembly,also dont forget that six pack of beer.took me about an hour to change mine.i will send you generic step-by-step instructions for all LAT models.i have sent my instuctions to many forum members having great success.hope this helps you out-later

i washed a large bed comforter and now my washer is leaking and i think it might be the seal and i need direction on how to replace . i have a roper whirlpool washer model # rax4232tq0

dan,i sent you my generic instructions for changing the seal and bearings on your maytag.let me know how you make out.i have sent these instructions to many forum members with them having great results.good luck-cybsterman

Not to piggyback on this thread, but....
I have a Maytag Model A8420 that leaks water where the shaft enters the tub...
but only leaks during spin and drain.... NOT during the wash cycle or when the tub is still.
Should I install a bearing kit AND a tub seal kit? One is $50 and the other is $60.
I thought if the tub seal is bad, it should always leak... but mine only leaks during spin and drain. So, I thought perhaps only do the bearing kit? Or does it make sense to do both as long as I have everything torn apart?
