Default Washer leaking from bottom
Brand: Whirlpool
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,
I just hooked up my washer which I have had in storage for the past two years. The washer is about four years old but only used for the first two years then stored. When I fill the tub with water to start washing water starts to leak from the bottom. All connections to the water system have no leaks. It leaks at the bottom of the machine. Any insight or advice would be helpful. Thanks

MIke

Pull the outer cover from washer and look for the leak. Probable leaks are the tub center seal or pump or a mouse hole in a hose. They do sell a tub seal for this. Just pull the old one out and stick the new one in with silicon cement to glue it in place. Sometimes the plastic filter will tear loose and damage these.

Question re washer leaking at the bottom

I know this is a stupid question, but I am illiterate when it comes to being an expert when it comes to fixing washers. How do I lift the outer cover of the washer. I have a top loader. Are there screws in the back that I need to unscrew?

PS thank you for the response and advice
