Default Washer has a funny Smell and Temp Not working
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: SAV-4 HD
Age: 1 - 4 years

All of a sudden the washer stopped. A funny smell came from within the washer drum, sorta a plastic or electric smell. Thought it may have been the motor but after about a half hour the unit restarted and ran through a complete cycle. The timer sounded a little louder this time than I recall it, but so did the machine overall.

Given the motor is working my guess is that it is the timer unit. Is it possible that the timer/controls have a overheat shutdown feature, and after cool down re-start?

Any hint of an answer on this little mistery would be appreciated.

Thanks

If the washer stopped in mid cycle and then started back up it sound like the motor over heated for some reason.

If the timer when through the cycle after it started the timer is not the problem.

Have you used the washer after this happened?

Can you please provide the model number?

It should be on a tag on the top of the console.
