Default Washer flooded my home
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WJSE4150B2WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My washer flooded my entire home while I was sleeping. Water was continually pumping out from somewhere. The hose connections to/from the washer look solid. I found my owners manual but there is very little information. I am unsure if it flooded during the wash or rinse cycle as I put the load in and went to sleep. Please help!! The serial nmbr is DF96414G

That sounds familiar to mine 20 years ago when my water was supplied by a well with lots of sand. The sand particles would get into the water inlet valve and prevent it from closing when the tub was full. The sand would nearly block off the water because it got stuck in the screen filter. The hot water side didn't do it because the sand had a chance to settle out in the hot water heater. Anyway you should check the water inlet valve and your pressure switch which is supposed to tell the water inlet valve when to close.

Dear Woodchuck, thank you so much for your reply. I want to mention that since I posted my problem, my handyman friend and I have tried to "recreate" the issue by running my washer and it seems to be working fine. I did take the underside panel off and checked all the connections and hoses and they seem to be fine. I got on the site mentioned these two items you mention that may be faulty. Do you think that the inlet valve or the water level switch can be faulty "intermittently? My handyman friend had to leave to do a job but was able to read your post and we will give your recommendations a whirl later today I love this website, thanks again for your reply. By the way, I don't have any carpet in my house, just laminant flooring....I am noticing a little warping but I don't think it's bad enough to make a claim. I also don't have a well but live near the beach. Take care and I will let you know how these tests go.

It definitely can be an intermittent problem. I wouldn't leave the house or go to bed with it running. I always had to check each fill cycle to see if it cut off. Good Luck.

hey Thanks Woodchuck, we didn't get a chance to work on it afterall. Perhaps this weekend. What a day, it makes a person feel very vulnerable when things like this happen. I was up from 130a - 330a and I was a mess all day thinking about potential damage under my flooring not to mention between the walls, etc. Many thanks again!!

You should be able to see it when you raise the top to expose the drum. It's mounted near the top as to be out of the water and a rubber tube is attached to it and extends into the water between the inner and outer tub. Here's how to test.

Here's a diagram with part# 10 being it.

Woodchuck, we tested the pressure switch and it checked out fine. We checked the inlet valve and there is no debris and no corrossion. Do you think, with the symptoms, that it is still the water level (pressure) switch?
