Default Washer fills and then stops
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT8705AAE
Age: 5 - 10 years

Top load washer. Fills up and then stops - completely dead. Notice fuse was blown and replaced it only to have it blow again. Replaced water valve (needed it anyway as we have hard water) and temp switch. Put in new fuse and machine will again fill up (buts that's it).

Checked lid switch with ohm meter and resistance goes from open to closed when lid is closed. Weird because it is really acting like there is a bad lid switch. Is there a way to bypass the switch just to double check?

Can't get washer to do anything expect if I reset the water level to a higher level it will start to fill again. But will not agitate or spin regardless what position Timer switch is in.

No noises or grinding that would suggest transmission.

Either a blow motor or bad timer, will need a meter to check.

Thanks for the info. I have a volt meter. Where should I check to determine which one is bad.

Per the schematic, you will need to check timer pin that supplies power to the motor.
