Default Washer fills but does not run without slamming the top down a few times
Brand: Please select
Model Number: 110.15962401
Age: 5 - 10 years

I made a mistake and washed an extra large comforter in my Kenmore Elite washer and now it fills with water fine but then stops. I have to slam the top down a few times (sometimes 10 or 15 times) and you can hear it click and then it starts. The rest of the cycle runs fine.
We can't find a reset switch.

By "pressure switch" he's referring to whats also called the "water level switch".

Here's a parts list (no diagrams)...

Kenmore Parts for Models 110.15962401

Here are diagrams of your parts breakdown to help you locate these parts (see "Browse Subcomponents")...

KENMORE ELITE | Model #11015962401 | RESIDENTIAL WASHER | SearsPartsDirect.com from Sears

Lid switch is your most likely cause of this, it's #11 in the digram on this page...

null | Model #null | null | SearsPartsDirect.com from Sears AND CABINET PARTS&documentId=K0407007&modelNumber=11015962401& productCategoryId=0153200&brandId=0583&modelName=R ESIDENTIAL WASHER&backToLink=Return to Sub Components

Water level switch is #2 in this diagram, its located in your control console up top, but has an air house that needs to be connected to both it and the tub down below.

null | Model #null | null | SearsPartsDirect.com from Sears PANEL PARTS&documentId=K0407007&modelNumber=11015962401& productCategoryId=0153200&brandId=0583&modelName=R ESIDENTIAL WASHER&backToLink=Return to Sub Components

Usually when the water level switch is bad it either will not fill at all, or it completely over fills. I don't think I've ever seen one fill, shut off the water properly then still not allow the washer to work but it sounds like maybe woodchuck has seen this before.

Sorry, the message board software here is destroying those specific links.

Lid Switch #11 is located in the "TOP AND CABINET PARTS" links down below on this page.

KENMORE ELITE | Model #11015962401 | RESIDENTIAL WASHER | SearsPartsDirect.com from Sears

Water Level Switch #2 is located in the "CONTROL PANEL PARTS" link down below on that page.
